Single subject courses in English at JMG


JMG offers two single subject courses for students studying at advanced level (second cycle) within any of the subjects Media and Communication studies, Journalism or Global Studies: Advanced Analyses in Media and Communication Studies, 15 hec and Media, Journalism and Global Studies, 15 hec.

You can also use these courses to put together your own master degree within the subject of media and communication studies.

Course descriptions

MK2100 Advanced Analyses in Media and Communication Studies, 15 hec

The course constitutes the beginning of your studies at master level in Media and Communication Studies. It provides a deeper understanding of the study area, its different approaches and theoretical assumptions, as well as training in the analysis of scientific texts.

SF2223 Media, Journalism and Global Studies, 15 hec

Interested in global perspectives on media and journalism? What role do the media play in global systems of war and conflict or in global conflicts over natural resources?  In this course, students will examine these questions in depth. They will study the cultural construction of meaning in relation to the media in the everyday life of particular contexts as well as the effects of the global system of the media on local power relations, gender relations, and politics of identity.
