Education at JMG

Students in journalism

The Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMG) is a leading actor in Northern Europe within journalism education and media and communication studies.

It is a goal of JMG to remain open to the surrounding society while at the same time maintaining integrity as part of the University. Our courses provide students with useful knowledge and skills, and actively foster independent and critical thinking.

We work in close contact with the media sector and society at large, and our teachers have thorough practical and theoretical experience within their individual fields.

Courses and programmes

JMG offers education on three levels: basic level (first cycle), advanced level (second cycle) and PhD level (third cycle).

For international students

International students within exchange programmes or students studying on advanced level may choose between a selection of single subject courses in English.

International students are also encouraged to apply to our one-year Master's programme in investigative journalism (MIJ), to our two year long Master's programme in political communication (PolCom) and to our Doctoral program.
