About Amanda Ramsälv


Amanda Waldenström is a PhD candidate at JMG since September 2018.



She holds a BA degree in practical Philosophy and a master´s degree in Media and Communication studies (including master level practical Philosophy focusing on democracy), both from University of Gothenburg. In addition, Waldenström holds a journalist education from University of Lund.

Waldenström has experience from working as a freelance journalist focusing on issues of journalism and democracy. She has also worked as a researcher´s assistant for two years within various media and communication research projects.

One such project is Epistemologies of digital news journalism (Oscar Westlund, Mats Ekström & Seth C. Lewis), a project which she still is a part of.

  • Ethnographic newsroom research – the societal function of journalism as distributor of knowledge about politics and society.
