We are looking for you who have a background in for example journalism or media and communication and who are interested in opinion formation, artificial intelligence, and so-called ”dogwhistles”. The phenomenon ”dogwhistles” is very much debated and known from individual scandals such as the Cambridge Analytica affair. Dogwhistles are political words and phrases that are used by actors in opinion formation, intended to be understood in a particular way by some groups in the population, but not others.

You are welcome to apply for a doctoral position in the  GRIPES project (Gothenburg Research Initiative for Politically Emergent Systems). GRIPES is a new interdisciplinary project whose purpose is to investigate the role of autonomous systems and artificial intelligence (AI) in the use of dogwhistles.
