This is how the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMG) handles the situation as a result of the new corona virus (covid-19).
All teaching at JMG will be made online, following the decision the Vice-Chancellor has made according to the government´s recommendations.
– This is a new situation for all of us, but we are prepared, says the Head of Department at JMG Monica Löfgren Nilsson. Teachers and other staff were early in adapting digital tools to ensure we have the ability to maintain the teaching through distance learning and that we can keep up the activity of the department.
The co-workers have been quick to adapt and they support each other as well as the students who have shown great understanding for the situation.
– It´s amazing to see and even if we will be facing challenges I´m convinced that we will solve this together, says Monica Löfgren Nilsson.
Crisis Communication is one of JMG´s profile areas of research. The researchers of JMG have during almost three decades done research on how governments, media and citizens act and communicate during other crises in society, like the bird- and swine flu and ebola. Now they are following the reporting about the new corona virus (Covid -19).

All physical meetings, seminars, events and similar are cancelled or postponed. No trips are allowed for staff or students, not even within the country unless it has been approved byt the head of the department. The staff will work at a distance and are available on e-mail or phone.
