Information about teaching at JMG this autumn

News: Jun 15, 2020

Starting this autumn, the teaching at JMG will be a combination of different forms.
Our international master programmes will have classes on campus. For students on these programmes who are not able to travel to Sweden, courses will be given online.
All other courses will be online.

The University of Gothenburg is contributing to stopping the spread of the new Corona virus and the disease covid-19.

Even if the Swedish government has announced the possibility of universities to return to campus-based courses, the universities still have to follow the other recommendations set up regarding distance and the maximum number of persons allowed in the same room, in order to halt the spreading of the disease.
Therefore, courses at JMG will be given in different forms this autumn.

– We had of course all hoped for a return to normal campus-based courses so that we could meet all our students here at our department, JMG:s Head of Department Monica Löfgren Nilsson says. But the large number of students in combination with the layout of our buildings puts a limit to this. We have to be able to maintain distance and avoid crowding in the rooms, and therefore most teaching will continue online, apart from our international master programmes.

– In those programmes, teaching will take place on campus, Monica Löfgren Nilsson explains. But for those international students who cannot travel to Sweden due to restrictions in their home countries, the courses will be given online.

This message has now been communicated to students who are already studying at JMG and who are continuing their studies this autumn, as well as to international students outside EEUU who have been admitted.

New students will be given the same information in connection with the letter of admission.
As soon as the restrictions are lifted, JMG will do its best to return to campus in an orderly manner and complete all tasks which are possible to do, on site.
