Changing media, changing society

Changing media, changing society is a European joint research programme funded by the European Science Foundation (ESF). The programme was launched in 2001 to shed light on the media development in Europe since the 1960s. As part of the programme, researchers from a variety of disciplines and European countries have developed different themes and projects. The Swedes who have been involved include Lennart Weibull, who has participated within the framework of a project on the development of the daily press in Europe 1960–2000 with Professor Jostein Gripsrud, University of Bergen, as chair.

The purpose of this project has been to analyse structural and content-related tendencies in the development of the European daily press. Dagspresskollegiet has participated by coordinating a content analysis of leading European newspapers in 1960, 1980 and 2000. The studies have been coordinated by Åsa Nilsson.
