Healthy media?

The media supply has increased dramatically over time. We spend more than four hours a day consuming mass media. Media and the media supply are strongly interwoven into everyday life, not least among parents of small children. The supply of TV programmes for children, videos/DVDs, computer games etc. was rather limited until relatively recently, yet today it has become difficult to imagine a day without it.

The research question that the project deals with is how parents of preschool children perceive the influence of media and what families’ media habits look like.

It is of particular interest to study how media interacts with other family habits, what importance media is given and what parents’ so-called media morals look like. The research questions are related to the available research on third-person effects, media use and how it shapes identity, social relations etc. in daily life.
