The Journalist Panel

The Journalist Panel is a web panel constituted by Swedish journalists. The aim of the panel is to analyze journalists’ views of themselves, the society, the profession of journalism, and the media.

The first web survey from the Journalist Panel was conducted in 2012, and since then the panel has received on or two web surveys every semester. The Journalist Panel provides participating researchers and research project the possibility to analyze specific research questions, but also to build data for longitudinal studies on journalists’ practices, attitudes, and opinions. The results are presented in newsletters. The data material is essential for the Swedish research on journalism.

The Journalist Panel is used not only by the researchers at the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication, but is open to other research projects, researchers and students.

The anonymity of the participants in the panel is guaranteed. It is not possible to identify individual journalists in the data material, nor in the material that is presented or published. Of course, all participants’ contact information is confidential.

The web panel is run by LOR (Laboratory of Opinion Research). LORE is financed by the University of Gothenburg via MOD (Multidisciplinary Opinion and Democracy Research Group), at the Department of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg. LORE also runs a Citizen Panel and a Panel of Politicians.

For questions regarding the Journalist Panel, please contact researcher Monica Löfgren-Nilsson or assistant researcher Ulrika Hedman.
